Classical Music - Page 2

Simone Dinnerstein's recording of the Goldberg Variations is recommendable  for all. This is a Goldberg recording that's extremely delicate, beautiful and easy to absorb.

Great copy of the original broadcast for fans of Amahl and the Night Visitors by Menotti. It is a story of a crippled shepherd boy and his encounter with the 3 kings on their way to find the Christ child. This is a rare recording of the 1955 production now on DVD.

The original Three Tenors CD. The concert was held during the World Cup in 1990 at the Baths of Caracella, which are ruins of the once great Roman baths. In this beautiful setting Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo came together.

Sissel sings in the local church where the audience can be seen sitting quietly in the pews. It is generally subdued in tone, quietly reflective and peaceful. Most of the songs are tied to the season or are hymns with a spiritual or religious bent. Most of the songs are in English, including several penned by Sissel herself.

This recording is a great performances of this great work. Conducted by John Aldis, The London Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir are wonderful. Equally wonderful are the soloists: Felicity Lott, Alfreda Hodgson, Phillip Langridge and Ulrik Cold.

Mozart's music in general is ideal for gently stimulating the "creative centers" as well as instilling a sense well-being. Mozart's music puts most people (and probably babies-to-be) in a happy mood ready to take on the day's challenges.
